About Meta Integration Technology, Inc.

Introduction

Incorporated in 1997, Meta Integration Technology, Inc. (MITI) is a privately held company (100% employee owned) based at the heart of Silicon Valley (Mountain View) in California. MITI is the leading metadata component provider to major database, data integration, business intelligence, repository, and modeling tool vendors. MITI has established itself as the " Switzerland of Metadata " as expressed by then-Giga Information Group Analyst Lou Agosta in a 2002 IdeaByte article. In 2005, Meta Integration received the Technology Partner Award Of The Year by Cognos, and DM Review's readers nominated Meta Integration as a company that provides total quality customer satisfaction in its December 2005 issue on Readership Merit Awards. MITI tools manage and analyze the complete enterprise metadata life cycle across heterogeneous vendors. Solutions range from reusable Metadata Integration (MI) components to full Metadata Management (MM). Recently, Gartner has positioned Metadata Management in 4th position of its Top 10 Strategic Technologies for 2008 (see reports from ZDnet, Search CIO, Manufacturing Computer, Computer World)

Customers

MITI has been profitable since its inception in 1997. MITI started as a metadata solution provider to large corporations and government agencies largely through consulting. MITI rapidly focused as the leading metadata component provider to the largest data integration, business intelligence and database vendors which represents 80% of its revenues today.

MITI's OEM business started in business intelligence with Cognos for its new ReportNet modeling tool (now Cognos 8 Framework Manager), quickly followed by data integration vendors like Informatica for its PowerCenter Data Integration, and Metadata Management software. Meta Integration components for metadata import/export components are now available by OEM Agreements within the tools of 12 major software vendors.

MITI's solutions are also purchased directly by a number of Fortune 500 companies.

Partners

MITI has established numerous partnerships in both government and industry sectors, including with Business Objects, CA, Cognos, Embarcadero, IBM, Informatica, Microsoft, Oracle, SAS Sybase, and Teradata. MITI is also involved with all relevant metadata standards, including the Object Management Group (OMG) as an influencing member (CWM and UML XMI). The strong collaboration from MITI's partners is allowing them to provide users with an unprecedented level of detailed metadata integration.

Metadata Integration Solutions

The need for data movement and data integration solutions is driven by the fact that data is everywhere underneath business applications. The same applies for metadata: metadata is also everywhere underneath the various tools involved in database and software development (data & object modeling), data integration (EAI, ETL, EII), data warehousing, and business intelligence.

Meta Integration® Model Bridge (MIMB) is the most complete metadata transformation and integration solution on the market. The strong collaboration with our partners is allowing MITI to provide an unprecedented level of detailed metadata integration, covering metadata standards, such as CWM, and the latest trends from leading ETL, OLAP & BI vendors, in particular the transformation of expressions from ETL, EII, OLAP and BI tools, opening new doors for version management driven lineage & impact analysis in a multi-vendor environment. MIMB also supports change management and updates of complex metadata, in particular in the filed of business intelligence.

Metadata Management Solutions

Metadata Management (MM) has considerably evolved from its original Data Dictionary, Data Registry, Data Standardization and Metadata Repository roots. Today, MM solutions are the critical component behind modern Enterprise Architecture (EA) and Data Governance (DG) initiatives. Indeed MM is at the heart of Enterprise Information Managament (EIM) solutions, and in fact a key component of any Master Data Management (MDM) initiative. MM provides the information traceability answers for the Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) Act compliance. Recently, Gartner has positioned Metadata Management in 4th position of its Top 10 Strategic Technologies for 2008 (see reports from ZDnet, Search CIO, Manufacturing Computer, Computer World)

Meta Integration® Repository (MIR) is based on a modern 3-tier architecture with support for multi-users, security, and concurrency control. The MIR metamodel integrates standards like the OMG CWM & UML, and supports XMI compliant metadata interchange. The MIR metamodel extends the OMG CWM standard with the latest trends from leading ETL, OLAP & BI vendors. MIR can manage massive amounts of metadata and make it persistent on most popular RDBMS like DB2, Oracle or SQL Server. The underlying repository database is fully open allowing users to build their own metadata web portals, or use their existing data tools to perform metadata reporting, and intelligence.

Meta Integration® Web (MIRWeb) and Works (MIW) provide the web and desktop metadata management toolset. MITI provides all metadata management functionalities with powerful Metadata Version & Configuration Management, Browsing, Comparison, Integration, Mapping, and Reporting. MITI implements detailed lineage and impact analysis graphical tools for today's complex multi-vendor environments, therefore providing the "technical truth" on the origin of data behind all reports (as required for the Sarbanes-Oxley Act compliance).

These metadata component solutions are the direct result of MITI's focus on the fundamentals of metadata management and especially MITI's integrated metamodel.
