Sypherlink Harvester 5 Tightens Automation and Integration With Pre-ETL Processes DUBLIN, Ohio--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Information-management-software company Sypherlink, Inc., has introduced advanced discovery and heuristics-mapping capabilities, tighter integration with the extract, transform and load (ETL) process, and an improved graphical user interface in version 5 of its patented, flagship Sypherlink Harvester product offering. “We know that, modestly, at least half of any data integration or business-intelligence effort is consumed by the discovery, mapping and pre-ETL processes,” said Sypherlink CEO James Paat. “We also know that these critical first steps are what relate most to an initiative’s success or failure. Collectively, they are the weak link in the data-integration chain. “Sypherlink Harvester 5 software strengthens that link,” he said, “allowing users to even more rapidly review, map and define data relationships, then feed higher-quality results more tightly to the next step in the data-integration process. “By combining Harvester’s discovery and mapping capabilities and mapping best practices, users can accelerate the process by at least 50 percent,” he continued. “The average data analyst maps 3 to 5 relationships per hour, but using Harvester, we’ve seen analysts map 60 to 150 relationships in that same hour,” he explained, noting that Harvester has already automated and streamlined the data discovery and mapping process for dozens of Fortune 1000 and government organizations. Harvester 5 Highlights: Advanced Data and Metadata Discovery The product now captures:
Enhanced Heuristics Mapping Analysis
Refined Graphical User Interface
Improved Integration with ETL Processes & Vendors
“With Harvester 5, there is no longer a need for data/business analysts to waste so much time manually querying individual data sources to analyze data, load it into spreadsheets, and create requirements and rules for ETL developers,” he continued. “It’s an unnecessary, costly process, both in terms of time, human resources, errors and dollars.” “Other offerings might exist to facilitate some steps in the integration chain, such as data profiling, cleansing, quality and movement, but none provide the unique capabilities that Sypherlink does,” explained Paat. “Harvester 5 is a front-end data-integration solution that condenses and improves the pre-ETL process and, therefore, accelerates an entire initiative, improves results AND drives cost out of the process.”

DUBLIN, Ohio - May 16th, 2007 - Sypherlink, Inc., the information-management-software company with patented automated mapping and rapid virtualization software, and metadata component provider Meta Integration Technology, Inc. (MITI), today announced a partnership designed to accelerate organizations' critical data integration and business intelligence initiatives. "We will embed Meta Integration's Model Bridge software within our product suite, further improving the time, cost and quality metrics associated with designing, building and deploying data integration and business intelligence initiatives," said Sypherlink CEO James Paat. "This will enable field-level mapping relationships found by Sypherlink to be seamlessly integrated into such popular data integration design tools as IBM DataStage and Informatica PowerCenter, as well as into such widely used business intelligence design tools as Business Objects Designer and Cognos Framework Manager," he explained. "In addition, the partnership will benefit the growing metadata management market, supporting the arrival of new technologies such as IBM's Information Server." "This partnership enables a powerful forward engineering of the complex relationships and mappings discovered by Sypherlink software," said Christian Bremeau, MITI's CEO, "It will optimize the performance of integration tools and business intelligence applications by providing an accurate understanding of the underlying data and metadata, including where relationships exist across data sources." According to Paat, Meta Integration is the Swiss Army knife of application programming interfaces, allowing the value of Sypherlink's products to be realized immediately through its seamless integration. He added that the partnership also directly benefits application vendors, by shortening their set-up and implementation times and enabling their tools to better align with business users' needs. Paat said the partnership will be "especially valuable" to organizations with complex data sharing needs, including those working through mergers & acquisitions or supporting data governance and compliance efforts. "Sypherlink's rapid prototyping technology will be more quickly leveraged, helping to mitigate the risk and uncertainty inherent in major data integration and business intelligence initiatives," he said. About Sypherlink, Inc. Sypherlink is an information integration software company serving the global 1000, public sector organizations and any company with a need to manage or access information across multiple data sources. Sypherlink's suite of products significantly reduce the time and cost associated with data-sharing and data-integration initiatives by enabling companies to quickly gain knowledge of where key data exist across an organization, to access that data from multiple, disparate sources, and to ensure reliability of data, for quality and consistency. Today, this process, an essential first step, is manual, costly and error prone. Sypherlink automates the process, resulting in a 50- to 85-percent reduction in the time and costs associated with data sharing and integration initiatives. Sypherlink was founded in 2001. About Meta Integration Technology Inc. (MITI) Called the "Switzerland of Metadata" by then-Giga Information Group Analyst Lou Agosta in 2002, MITI is the leading metadata component provider to major database, data integration, business intelligence, repository and modeling tool vendors. The company focuses on the fundamentals of metadata management and especially its integrated metamodel, which extends the OMG CWM standard with the latest trends from leading ETL, OLAP & BI vendors. The strong collaborative effort from MITI's partners allows it to provide users with an unprecedented level of detailed metadata integration. Note: Sypherlink is a trademark of Sypherlink, Inc.
