Microsoft Repository import and export

• Repository v2.x uses the "XML Interchange Format" (XIF)
• Repository v3.x uses the Meta Data Coalition (MDC) XML format

MDC is no longer active, and Microsoft has renamed its repository initiative and product as Meta Data Services (MDS)
The Microsoft repository is also delivered as part of Microsoft Visual Studio.

Getting started with the Microsoft Repository

When installing/setting-up Visual Studio 6.0, remember to check the Repository box, in the Enterprise Tools option as follows:

    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Repostry\

    REPBROWS.EXE
