The Edit Menu

The edit menu contains items that are used for editing objects found in the Repository Manager window, the Model Browser windows, the Model Mapper window or the Transformation Manager window. The searching algorithm, however, looks in the current window or all the windows containing model information in the form of a tree.

Cut - copies the selected object in the clipboard and marks it to be deleted when the paste operation is completed.

Copy - copies the selected object to the clipboard.

Paste - copies the selected object from the clipboard under the currently selected object.

Paste Link - creates a link between the object in the clipboard and the currently selected object.

Delete - deletes the selected object from the current window, the server repository, and other clients using this server. You will be asked to confirm your request.

Preferences - displays a window that let you set some defaults for the various tools. Each panel is described in the documentation of the associated tool.

Find - The find option allows you to search for an object in the meta model. You can look in the window of a specific tool (Repository Manager, Model Browser...) or in all the tools. Type all or part of the object's name in the Named: box. If you select Search in Description, the description property of the object will also be searched.
You can also restrict the search to a portion of a tree (for example you want to restrict the search to a particular Package in a Model). Open the Search window. In the tool window (e.g. the Model Browser), select the object you want as the root of your search (e.g. the Package object). Then click on the Look in selected button in the search window.

You may look for an object that is only of a given type by selecting the type from the type window. In this example we have chosen to look only for Class objects.
