Automatic Windows-Based Authentication

Some organizations that currently rely solely on Microsoft Windows-based authentication for access to applications. In this mode, authentication on one’s workstation means that no further authentication is required for other applications/environments. The CA ERwin Web Portal now provides an automatic authentication mode where Windows Authentication is already in place, and users in this case do not need to authenticate through their web browsers.

Configuration Management of Mart Subsets

The Web Portal allows one to harvest an entire Mart. One may now use the configuration manager to build configurations which contain one or more models as subsets from the harvest Mart. In this way, one may:

• Include (in any configuration) only a subset of the models harvested from the Mart
• Include Mart-based and non Mart-based models with data sources and data movement rules to other models (Mart based or not)
• Include both Mart-based derived models (e.g., a physical model derived from a logical model) and Include Mart-based models with data sources and data movement rules in the same configuration, providing semantic impact and definition traces along with data flow impact and lineage traces in the same configuration and among the same models.

Business Case: The repository administrator can define a single automatic harvesting of an entire Mart, yet one can dynamically create any number of configuration for different groups of customers, including separate models, semantic and data flow lineage analysis.

Web-Based Architecture Diagramming of Configurations

The Model Connections tab for a configuration has been enhanced to become an Architecture Diagramming tool which allows one to:

• Redraw (position) the models and connections contained within the configuration
• Annotation of diagrams

Semantic Lineage and Data Model Transformation Operations

CA ERwin Data Modeler has built-in data model transformations which allow the modeler to transform model constructs according to pre-defined rules. Even when the transformed models are derived from another before transformation, semantic lineage is maintained in the CA ERwin Web Portal as CA ERwin Data Modeler maintains the traceability within it models even after these transformations (See here).
